Hodges Farms

 In 2015, the Hodges Farm took advantaged of a rainwater harvesting rebate program. Two storage tanks with a capacity of over 40,000 gallons were installed on the farm, and since 2016 over 700,000 gallons of water have been collected. Mr. David Hodges uses the collected rainwater for his chemical spray operation as well as supply water for his cattle operation. Since the installation, Mr. Hodges has not pumped any additional groundwater for his chemical spray operation.

Jesus Reyes – General Manager

El Paso County Water Improvement District No. 1

With El Paso having a unique set of water challenges, the El Paso Water Improvement District No. 1, under the leadership of Mr. Jesus Reyes, has implemented a multi-faceted approach to ensure a bright water future for El Paso. Under Mr. Reyes’ leadership, the District has been able to focus on four goals: Meeting Agriculture and Municipal Water Demand Through Best Management Practices, Modernize the District’s Infrastructure and Equipment, Build Resiliency to Prolonged Drought Conditions, and Promote the Sustainability of Agriculture in El Paso and Protect the Area’s Limited Water Supplies.
